Ask, Seek, Knock

by Tereciah V. Smithen-Quintana

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you.” Matt 7:7

You’ve read that scripture verse plenty of times haven’t you?  Yep, you have.

So what’s going on in your life right now that you can apply this promise to? What need do you have that you can put this promise of God to the test?

He said to “ask”.   When we open our mouths and say the words, we are saying, “I can’t do this on my own, Father.”  We are acknowledging that we are weak and what we need cannot be accomplished in our own strength.  So here you go… “Father, your word says __________ (whatever scripture applies to your problem/need.) and I am asking you today for ______________.”

He said to “seek”.  The word seek means to go in search of; to try to find or discover; to try and obtain.  So here you go… look for opportunities that will enable you to alleviate your problem/issue.  Do some research; ask questions of others; take some training; read; listen. There are a million other things you can do when you “seek”.

He said to “knock”.   In order to get what you need you have to go after it.  It’s not going to come to you and land at your feet.  No, sirree Bob!  You’ve got to literally get up and ball up your fist and pound on some doors – physically and spiritually.  So here you go… when you find those opportunities embrace them.  Get out of your comfort zone and make a connection.  You’ve got to put yourself out there to get what you need.

As you knock on those doors say a prayer. “Lord, I’m ‘knocking’ on these doors and I don’t know what’s going to happen.  I’m a bit scared but I trust you to open some for me, and give me the wisdom to know which doors to walk through and which ones to walk by.”

If you do your part God will do His.  It really is that easy!  Remember faith without works is dead!

“For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matt 7:8

To your greatness!  Be Blessed!
