Is Your How Crippling You?

Is Your How Crippling You?

by Tereciah V. Smithen-Quintana

Let me ask you a question.  When God spoke to Moses in Exodus and told him to “Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.”  Did Moses ask him how?

What about the prophet Jonah when he was sent by God to preach to the people of Nineveh?  Did he ask how he was supposed to do it or where he was supposed to start; or did he just go (well, eventually!)?

So, why do we as Believers today, tend to ask God ‘How’ and ‘Why’ and ‘When’ before we will obey Him and move in obedience?

It’s not that you don’t want to.  You have the faith.  You are willing to do the work.  You desire to see that change.  But you’re looking for a tiny bit more information than what you currently have; which is nothing.

I, myself is guilty of this at times.

“Your ‘How’ is crippling you, Tereciah” my friend said to me.

“Huh?  What do you mean?”  I inquired.

“Your ‘How’ is keeping you stuck” she responded.

I had been going around and around with a deep yearning I had, had in my heart for quite awhile.  I knew it was something God had placed in my heart to accomplish but I kept wondering “How.”  “How was I supposed to do it?  With a deep longing in my heart, every question I had for God concerning this assignment would end with me in tears crying to Him asking him “HOW!”

I was looking for details (I love details!) and He wasn’t giving it to me.

Is your How crippling you?

Has God placed an assignment in your heart but because you don’t know the how’s – how will it work out;  how it will be financed, how will you get the help, or how it will be accepted – you find yourself stuck between desire and manifestation?

He won’t reveal it to you on your terms.

He wants you to trust Him.  Trust His promises and step out and ramp up your faith.  Then, and only then, will He show you glimpses of His plans for you.

God rarely gives clear step-by-step instructions when He’s placed a desire on your heart to accomplish.  Normally, you have to put your shoes on first, then take the first step, and then take another step – in faith!  Only after you’ve went through a myriad of emotions does He reveal a few steps to you.  And it will happen again as you continue to grow and manifest your desire.  It’s a process.

So, as you ponder on the words of Jeremiah, “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” just know that He wants you to succeed.  He wants you to bring forth what He has placed upon your heart.  And because He loves you He will do what He needs to do to make it come to pass.

Just be obedient.

Be Blessed!
