Small Seed, Great Impact

by Tereciah V. Smithen-Quintana

Smalls seeds can make a great impact.

Have you ever wonder if the work you do – around your home, the church you attend, your job, the volunteer organizations you assist – ever really matters?  Like, are people really being affected by what you have to say or do?

I have; especially when I’m going through a “dry” moment.

Think back, have you ever been fed spiritually, emotionally, or mentally and it was oh’ so good?  Maybe it was a sermon that was right on point. Or it was a book you read that spoke to you in such a way it made you change your whole way of thinking?  Maybe it was a television show you saw that inspired you, or a speaker that challenged you.

You ate from what the person prepared and you cherished it.  You probably went back for more: more teachings, shows or books by that author.  Maybe a training or a conference or you signed up on their e-newsletter.  It’s the same thing with your work.  God is allowing those that need your work to glean off of what you have prepared and in doing so, they can grow.

Just because you may not see it doesn’t mean it’s not happening!

Earlier this week I received a phone call from someone I met and encouraged years ago at a speaking event.   She called me to say that she really enjoyed my work and there were times she was encouraged to plod on through and move forward with her heart desires.  Times when she felt God brought a direct word to her through one of the devotionals and it was what caused her to refresh herself.

At the end of the call I looked up towards the ceiling in my living room and told God “thank you!”  I thanked Him because I knew it was His way of encouraging me!

The adversary will come at you whispering doubt and negativity into your ear gates, especially if you’re not seeing the fruit of your labor the way you wish.  “Why are you doing this?  No one even reads it.  They don’t even open it up!” he says.  Or “You’ve had five classes and only four people showed up each time.  You need to call it quits.”

But I’m here to tell you that you are making an impact!  That’s why he’s trying to deceive you.  Don’t believe the lies!  Do not despise your “small beginnings!” (Zechariah 4:10)

Many times it’s not the way we expect it to happen but once you have sown a seed God is the one that will make it grow.

Every seed of obedience, every seed of faithfulness, every seed of love and kindness, every seed of thankfulness, God will multiply it!

So, refresh yourself and know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose! (Romans 8:28)

You are called.  You have purpose and you will succeed!

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Be Blessed!
